How it works

  1. The school sends as usual

The same notices, on the same system. The school adds one address to the BCC line. d6, SA-SAMS, Ed-admin or plain email, it makes no difference.

  2. Almanak reads it, and a person checks

The date, grade, amount and deadline are pulled out. A person checks every item before it reaches a parent.

  3. It appears in your calendar

Every child, every school and the aftercare in one place, with the school's original notice word for word one tap away. On Sunday at five you get the week ahead.

  4. You tap Paid

One tap, and it becomes part of a record you can rely on for years.

When the statement doesn't add up

In October the school statement shows R240 outstanding. You paid half of it in August, and you know it. The bursar wants proof.

Almanak matches the statement line by line against your record and drafts a short, itemised letter with the date and reference of every payment.

Every entry says honestly how well it is proven: expected, marked paid by you, with a receipt, or matched against the supplier's own statement.

Who sees what

  • Only verified parents at your school can see your school's content.
  • Off-site events show the date only. Never a time, venue or gate.
  • A child's live status is visible to their own household and to the staff on duty, and to nobody else.

The five controls, and what they cost us

For the aftercare

When the school closes early, the aftercare knows before thirty children arrive two hours early. Roll, activities and handover run through the same system, and the late fee reaches the parent without a WhatsApp.

What the aftercare gets

One price for the whole family

R129a month, every child included

  • Eleven months a year. December is free.
  • Or R1,249 for the year upfront.
  • The first school term is free. Your first payment is on 1 April.

Always free: your school's notices as a simple list.

Schools never pay. They receive 15% of what parents at that school pay.

Questions

Our school uses d6. Does it still work?

Yes. Almanak does not replace d6, SA-SAMS or Ed-admin. It reads what the school already sends, and puts your children's schools and the aftercare together in one calendar.

How does Almanak know I really am a parent at the school?

Once a year the school supplies its list of parent email addresses, or prints a family code on the fee statement. Without that, an account sees nothing.

Do I need to download an app?

No. You open almanak.co.za and add it to your home screen. Almanak will never ask you to download a file.

Does the school see what I paid?

No. Your record is yours. The school never sees what you recorded.

We're separated. Do we both see the same?

Yes. Every verified parent sees exactly the same school information, and no parent can restrict the other's access. Each household has its own subscription.

Can I see it in my work calendar?

Yes, in Outlook, Google or Apple, with neutral titles if colleagues can see your calendar. Cancellations go by email and notification, because a subscribed calendar only refreshes every few hours.

Where is my children's information kept?

In South Africa. No home addresses, no photographs of children and no live location.

Want it at your school?

Tell us which school. We talk to the school, not you.
