For the aftercare: the afternoon, without the diaries on the table
Almanak reads the school's notices, so it knows about an early closure before the aftercare does. The roll, the activities and the handover run through the same system, on a tablet at the door and staff phones.
The two things nobody else has
The school closes early, and you know first
Staff development, a sports day, exam timetables, a burst pipe. Almanak reads the notice the moment the school sends it and tells the aftercare which of its children are affected, and when each one now comes out.
The child's activities are already there
Karate on Wednesday at four, swimming on Thursday. The parent has it in Almanak, so nobody retypes it.
What it runs
- The roll, generated, not typed: the family's standing pattern, the school's day and any absence the parent flagged that morning. Ordered by out-time, not alphabetically.
- Arrival in one tap. No confirmation box, with eight seconds to undo. Faster than a pen, or it does not help.
- A child who is late. One notification to the parent and one on your screen, at a time you set.
- The board. Who is here, who is at an activity, who has been collected. Colour and a word, because colour alone fails in the sun.
- Handover. Only to someone on the parent's list of authorised people. Staff cannot add anyone or override it; the parent is asked.
- Late fees land in the parent's Almanak automatically. No chasing on WhatsApp.
- A DSD inspection report for any date range, in two taps.
Built for the gate at one o'clock
- Works without signal and syncs later.
- Two staff on two phones see the same roll, without conflicts.
- Each person has their own PIN on the shared tablet. No shared “staff” account.
- A button to print the roll, always. Tablets fall and batteries die.
What it does not hold
One allergy flag, entered by the parent, visible only to staff on duty. No diagnoses, medication or behaviour reports, and no photographs of children unless the aftercare turns it on and the family consents per child.
Who can open an account
An aftercare with a DSD partial care registration number, and the owner's ID. Staff are added by the owner, never by themselves, and lose access the day they leave.
